To Be, Or Not To Be Interesting
It's not that I lack on subjects I could blog about. The question is: Will the reader find it interesting? This is why I struggle when it's my turn to blog, because I don't want to bore you. So what is interesting? I guess that depends on your audience. Throwing in pretty pictures and links to back up what your blogging about is always a good idea right?Well, I like, no strike that, LOVE food. I love to shop for it (grocery stores excite me) chop it, cook it, eat it and I also like it when other people cook delicious food for me.Somehow I was lucky enough to be born in Sonoma County and then wind up in a career in the wine industry. What better way to learn and enjoy food than with wine? I didn't grow up in a household where we ate kale salad (try Presidio Social Club in SF's chopped kale salad), fava beans (try Willi's Wine Bar fava bean bruschetta), pork cheeks (try Bravas bar de tapas pork cheek sandwich), or my favorite, burrata (try Scopa burrata cheese with grilled bread). It was like a whole new world of flavors and my love of food only grew from there. At home Brandt, our son Tage and I still enjoy simple, delicious foods like grilled chicken breast, pork tenderloin and of course Brandt's favorite bone-in ribeye. This past weekend we enjoyed that very steak with some of our best friends...and of course a bottle of RUA wine! (try RUA red)I had considered blogging about the 'M G' on Homer Simpson's head (which by the way Brandt didn't even know about). Would that have been more interesting?- Christy Hoekenga
